I am so sleepy. See, Troy had to leave for Michigan at 4 in the morning. He tried not wake me up as he was getting ready to leave, but I woke up anyway. I couldn’t sleep since. And I didn’t fall asleep until close to midnight last night. Needless to say, I’m Yawnie McYawnalot today.
On a completely unrelated note, you may have heard of Canadians pronouncing “about” “aboot”. I can tell you that it’s not really a myth. However, not all Canadians say “aboot”. Most don’t, but some do. What brought this on? Well, I just overheard a construction worker outside talking on his CB radio saying “aboot”. He’s the second person I’ve ever heard saying “aboot” during my stay in Canada.
Oh, and I finally finished reading “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky last weekend, bringing the total number of books I finished reading during the last 12 months to a glorious number of two; the first one being “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” by Mark Haddon. It’s quite a record, really. At one point, my attention-span was short enough that I wasn’t able to finish reading one book in one year. I’m currently reading “The Secret Life of Bees” by Sue Monk Kidd. I still have yet to finish reading the first page.
Well, I’ve got to get going. I need to go shopping, mostly to pick up a birthday present to send to my little niece in Indonesia. She’s turning two years old in 10 days. My mother died almost three months after she was born. Soon my mother would’ve been gone for two years. Time does fly.

“Aboot” is almost always used by a “Newfie”. Or, in the case of one of my strange highschool chums, someone who wishes they were. ;p
The Secret Life of Bees is one of my favorite books. I have also read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, which was also a good book that I enjoyed. I’ve always wanted to read The Perks of Being a Wallflower - did you like it?
I found The Curious Incident… and The Perks… to be quite similar and enjoyable. If you liked The Curious Incident…, you’d like The Perks…
finally you read it! would someone who enjoyed the perks also enjoy The Curious Incident?
Most Canadians say something that’s more along the lines of “aboat”. “Aboot” is definitely a Newfie kind of thing. Not exclusively. Some of those that I’d call “hosers” do it, too. I don’t say either one, anymore. People made fun of me when I moved to Indiana. I certainly don’t say “eh”, either!
