Isn’t Life Exciting?
I’m in the middle of setting up a photolog to post pictures from and stories about my adventure in England right now, but knowing how short my attention span is, it may take a while before it’s up and running so standard disclaimer applies: don’t hold your breath.
Anyway, ever since I got to Canada, I always wake up at six in the morning, and Troy won’t wake up until at least ten on weekends (what can I say, he loves to sleep) so I always have hours to keep myself entertained in the morning. Thank goodness for broadband internet. Troy has showed me how to use his stereo set and DVD player but so far, only the computer, TV, and the kitchen have peaked my interest. And no, I haven’t cooked anything from scratch since I arrived. I’ve just been having some ready-to-cook stuff from the supermarket. Yes, I’ve been bad.
Oh, if you’ve been wondering what Firda Approved™ food products are, it’s just things that I usually have back home in Indonesia. (Anyone know any supermarket chains in Canada that actually have jasmine tea?) And dude, it’s so cold here but Troy actually finds 14°C warm. Brrrrr. But at least the air here is not as dry as it was in England. And woo, there’ll be a thunderstorm on Monday! I’m so glad the weather was fine when my plane landed. I would hate to fly in bad weather.
I think we’re supposed to be going to the zoo to see some llamas (among others) today but we’ll see. Troy still has yet to wake up. Sleepyhead. And I just had a big yawn. Should I go back to sleep?
Quacks on Isn’t Life Exciting?
We’ve had a couple of thunderstorms in England today, actually. Well, in the north anyway.
I’m sure that there are lots of places where one can get jasmine tea in Toronto. Google supplied:
The Tea Emporium
1592 Bayview Ave.
Toronto, ON M4G 3B7
416 483-9547
www.theteaemporium.com
It looks like they should have a Firda Approved™ tea.
There is also:
Ten Ren in Ontario
454 Dundas Street West
Toronto, Ontario M5T 1G9
Tel: 416/598-7872 Fax: 416/595-5080
There are three Ten Ren shops in NYC. I’ve been to two and they are very good. Everything there comes from Taiwan. You can get very fancy jasmine tea or a plainer version. The really good ones can be quite expensive, but they are delicious.
(14C is fairly warm, but that’s coming from a Minnesota guy.) I hope you have fun at the zoo. I’m making my own in Zoo Tycoon.
I’m way west of Waterloo, but I get most my jasmine tea from supermarkets in Chinatown. I can usually find it at IGA/Sobeys, Superstore, Save On, and Safeway too, though. You’ve probably just got to find a big supermarket with a decent tea&coffee aisle.
Ontario has any kind of food you could possibly want, if you know where to look. Toronto has been ranked “most multicultural city in the world”. I miss it. I’m only a seven hour drive away, but US immigration is holding me captive from my home country. After you visit the zoo, see if you can get to the ROM. They have a nifty Egyptian exhibit going that I’ll never get to see — grr!
A big Zhers store should have jasmine tea. I think that’s where I got the last jasmine tea I bought. Or maybe it was Sobey’s.
Glad you made it to the area… :)
Today Troy bought me a box of jasmine green tea at Jim’s ValuMart but I was really looking for jasmine black tea. It’s not so bad though so I’m going to stick with it, at least until I found what I’m looking for. Thanks for all the shopping suggestions!
I’m glad your having fun. Hopefully when you get back we can have a new book of styles? I miss it soooo much :)
I’m glad you having fun there.…enjoy the rest of your holiday.…
Fantastic how a new exciting experience can do to one’s flagging spirit, eh?
If you’re looking for something to do on Friday, there’s 3 really great bands playing at the Bombshelter at the University … it’s open to the public (not just students) but I don’t know how much tickets are. Just a thought if you feel like experiencing some live Canadian rock. :)
Yay… that’s my firda indeed… wouldn’t it make everyone smile, to see you cheerish your life to its fullest? Way to go firda… God bless you dear! :P
