Interesting Experiment

Monday  •  07:47 PM  •  52 words

Play the McGurk-effect video, first with your eyes open and then with your eyes closed. You’ll see how your eye can trick your ear. Anyway, even though research says that most adults think they are hearing “Da”, I’m only hearing “Ga” (eyes open) and “Ba” (eyes shut). No “Da”. How about you?

i’m the same as you. when is see the lip movements or atleast open my eyes, i hear “ga”. if i shut my eyes, it goes “ba”. no “da” here.

hearing lips and seeing voices? that’s so cool!

I hear a “Da”. I’ve seen it before and I wondered then and now if there are differences in results all over the world, depending on what language is your mother-tongue? Mine is Dutch, and so is that of my friends, most of whom also heard “Da”

Well, my sound card is broken, so I only did part one of the experiment. I could tell he was saying ga, and now I want to hear it. *sigh*, stupid sound card.

I too heard GA when watching, and BA when only listening.
No DA, no matter how hard I try to hear it. :)

Curious…I can finally hear the DA. But only when I look at the video in my peripheral vision only. If I look right at it I go back to hearing GA. And with no visual cues I hear BA.

Haha, it’s funny! :-)

I hear DA with my open eyes and BA with my eyes closed except for once when I heard DA with my eyes closed.
