Excuses, Excuses

Thursday  •  12:13 AM  •  154 words

Sorry for the lack of update lately. I just haven’t been feeling like blogging due to a certain family situation that leaves me feeling depressed most of the time. I’ll spare you the details but this much I can say: if you have a father who always tries to make your life easier, you should count yourself lucky. Some of us (including myself) aren’t that lucky.

On a happier note, I got myself a UK visa today. Yayness! After three years of having a passport, there’s finally something to see among the passport pages. I’ll be leaving Jakarta for London on May 18 and, if I’m lucky enough to get the Canadian visa, I’ll be flying to Toronto from London on May 28. I really can’t wait to start my adventure. Too bad it’s still a little less than a month away.

Well, until next update! I hope all of you are doing good.

It’s good that it’s a little more than a month away since you’ll have time to apply for the Canadian visa :)

I’m sorry to hear that you are depressed. It’s always hard when the problem is a family situation. Getting away on vacation will do you a world of good and is just the right thing to do. I’ll bet you can’t wait for May 18th.

Have a great time!

Have a wonderful and safe trip. The U.K. and Canada are both great places. When in Canada, you should really visit Ottawa - I love that city.

Hi Firda - I can relate to the father thing…
Anyway, on a positive note you’ll be having a cool adventure overseas and will enjoy yourself, I’m sure. I’ve just gotten back from the UK and I enjoyed it immensely - there is so much to do and see in London. Make the most of it! : )

Sorry to hear you’ve had a tough time recently, but Yay! for your holiday. When you’re in London I can thoroughly recommend a day trip to Brighton for a day at the seaside, some great shopping and lots of bars on the beach…

Samuel  •  Apr 22  •  11:12 PM

Wow…congratulation on your visa. Be strong Frida, everything has a purpose which will make you stronger and mature.

Enjoy your holiday ;)

Jordan  •  Apr 23  •  02:22 AM

Firda, how long are you going to be in Toronto?

Firda  •  Apr 23  •  10:48 AM

I’d be in Canada all summer. Come and visit me if you can. :)

Jo  •  Apr 23  •  12:20 PM

Dont forget to get the frequent flyer points..
Jakarta to London and Canada could get quite a lot of points..
And fly for free!!

Firda  •  Apr 23  •  02:51 PM

I’d be flying with different airlines for both trips (Jakarta-London-Jakarta and London-Toronto-London) so I’m not sure if I could get some frequent flyer points…

Actually, I just signed up with one of the airlines. If it worked, I would get plenty of points. Not sure how far it would bring me, though.

You are a grown up, talented, creative person.
You have permission to like yourself more, no matter what your local cirstumstances may be. Tell those who make your life misery to ‘take a hike’ !!

Karen  •  Apr 23  •  09:56 PM

Congrats on your visa! Traveling is fun!

bayibhyap  •  Apr 23  •  10:05 PM

I think most of us would be interested to share your experience abroad. Will you be blogging from where you will be?

Good to hear that you will finally make the trip. And what an experience at that. Two continents! Can you blame me if I am envious?

bayibhyap  •  Apr 23  •  10:08 PM

By the way, take digital photographs and do a scrap book with writings and entries from you. Makes a priceless piece for the good memories for years to come. The effort you put in will make the book precious.

Jo  •  Apr 24  •  02:10 PM

Should be able to, Firda.. Try to find out which frequent flyer points your airlines can get. Find more information about it thru Asia Miles or Krisflyer or Enrich.. Which airlines are you taking?

Samuel  •  Apr 24  •  05:11 PM

Check with the airlines. Some airlines have an agreement or partneship with others, so even if you are a member of let say Krisflyer (Singapore Airlines), you still can use and get a point from Lufthansa, Thai etc.

Thomas  •  Apr 24  •  08:51 PM

Have a nice trip! :)

Jeanna  •  Apr 24  •  10:41 PM

It’s good to hear from you again, Firda. Enjoy your trip - “a little less than a month” will fly by pretty quickly. :)
