How Rich Are You?

Wednesday  •  07:45 PM  •  66 words

According to the Global Rich List, I’m in the top 13.86% richest people in the world, there are 5,168,072,445 people poorer than me, and I am the 831,927,555 richest person in the world. It makes me feel rich! But I’m really not! They really should put into account how much of the income has to be spent on paying bills before they determine the rank.

Agree…they should consider our expenses first.

But looking at other person who can’t even have one decent meal per day. I guess we richer than them.

I agree. It’s not just how much you earn, but also how much you have to spend to live. But it kinda does illustrate just how much most of us (especially Americans) really do have. It’s good to be reminded of how fortunate I am.

It’s all too easy to forget how many people live in poverty and that we are no where near that level. We have food, clothing and shelter and a computer. What, you also have a television?

When we say we are poor, we don’t think of the face of true poverty. True, we may not have much money, but we have much more than many people in the world.

Me, I’m happy as long as I can pay my rent, eat, have my computer and Internet connection, and my radio and TV. I hardly ever watch the TV, but it’s there, none the less.

Because of rent increases and a wage freeze, I had to cut back on many things, but in truth, I have enough to keep me happy. As long as things don’t start breaking down, and that includes me. Medical costs are quite high in the U.S.

For the haves, when they have a TV, they ask about whether it is a B&W or color one, how many inches, etc. When it is in color and 29”, they ask if it is a flat. If it is, they ask if is a plasma. It goes on and on. Are we rich or are we not.

I think the answer lies in whether we are contented without being uncompetitive. Then not only we are rich, we are also happy.
