Weblog Wannabe
One-Stop Search
Soople is a gateway to various searches by Google. It’s worth a bookmark, especially if you’re a weblogger because you can do a lot of vanity-related activities there, and as we all know, webloggers are the vainest kind of cyberlings ;)
Speaking of searches, I really can’t live without this Firefox extension called Paste and Go, which also does Paste and Search to the search bar. And speaking of Firefox, am I the only one who’s experiencing a lot of crashing with Firefox? The last build of Firebird was a lot more stable than this. Sometimes Firefox also eats up a lot of memory. I hope the next version will be a lot better than this.
Quacks on One-Stop Search
Haven’t experienced crashes so far on Win2K.
Only issue was that I didn’t have all buttons in my toolbar, and neither a scrollbar, but that seemed to be caused by an incompatible theme. (Thanx to TurkeyNeck for pointing that out)
So far, I get crashes only when the QuickTime plug-in tries to load a movie. WindowsXP, here.
Windows 98 Second Edition here. I think I’ve only experienced one crash thus far, but I do sympathize on the memory consumption. I’m on a machine pretty much identical to the one you described as using before you got this current computer.
Once Firefox has actually loaded, it’s fast and sexy. However, it takes usually about 60 seconds for the program to initially load. That became annoying.
I’ve found Firefox to crash quite a bit, so have gone back to Firebird for the moment
I have had no problems with Firefox (yet). I’m using Windows 98 SE but have a memory management program running and 512 MB of memory to play with. I still prefer Mozilla because I’m always sending links to my friends and that isn’t properly implemented in Firefox (also yet).
Low-tech user here. Soople looks good.
